CD PROJEKT looks back at the third quarter of 2022

In the third quarter of 2022, CD PROJEKT successfully pursued its strategy of expanding its franchises with the successful release of the Cyberpunk: EDGERUNNERS series. The studio also released the first trailer for the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 expansion and revealed its title: Phantom Liberty.

On September 13th, the anime Cyberpunk: EDGERUNNERS debuted on Netflix. The ten-episode story created by CD PROJEKT RED in cooperation with the Japanese Studio Trigger won over a multitude of fans around the world and received great reviews from critics.

Although we had strongly believed in the success of the series, its debut exceeded our expectations. In its premiere week, our anime hit the Netflix Top 10 in 19 countries. The popularity of the series and the positive reception of the 1.6 update to Cyberpunk 2077, released a week earlier, had a measurable impact on the game’s sales. At the end of September, we proudly announced that the game had been purchased by more than 20 million players. We are pleased with the synergy created by the expansion of our franchise.” — Adam Kicinski, CEO of the CD PROJEKT Group.

During this period, the studio continued work on its projects, including a major expansion to Cyberpunk 2077 titled Phantom Liberty, which will debut in 2023. Later this year, on December 14th, the company plans to release an update to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt that takes advantage of the capabilities of next-generation consoles.

Financially, it was the best third quarter in CD PROJEKT’s history.

The 246 million PLN of consolidated revenue we achieved in this period was mainly due to the solid sales of Cyberpunk 2077. The Group’s net profit amounted to 99 million PLN, giving the Group a profitability of 40%. At the same time, the profitability of the CD PROJEKT RED segment alone reached 47%.” — Piotr Nielubowicz, Vice President and CFO of CD PROJEKT.

On October 4th, CD PROJEKT published a strategy update focused on its long-term product outlook. The studio announced six new games and the start of work on a completely new universe. It also announced the opening of a new studio in North America, the addition of multiplayer to most future projects, and a further expansion of its franchises.

We have an intense few years ahead of us and many ambitious projects. We are determined to deliver the best quality entertainment to the fans of our franchises.” — Adam Kicinski.
