Another Record-High Quarter of CD PROJEKT

  • CD PROJEKT Group reported revenues of 113,2 million PLN and a net profit of 40,4 million PLN in Q3 2015.
  • Positive net cash flows in Q3 2015 amounted to 139,3 million PLN.
  • By net profit, it was the best quarter in the over 20-year-long history of the Group, second only to the quarter when The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was released.
  • The positive net cash flows in Q3 2015 were higher than the historically-high cash flows in the quarter when The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was released.

 

The Group’s results in Q3 2015 were driven mainly by the excellent sales of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The net profit of the Group was record-high, second only to the quarter when The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was released.

The revenue of the videogame development segment totalled to 93,7 million PLN and the net profit of the segment amounted to 42,6 million PLN in the period of July to September, 2015.

“During the third quarter of 2015, our net profitability within the videogame development segment reached an excellent level of 45% of sales revenues. These stellar results could not have been achieved had The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt not been an excellent product. To date, the game has garnered over 250 awards, including a record number of 7 Golden Joysticks, one of the most esteemed awards in the industry, and became one of the most popular and best rated games released in recent years,” says Piotr Nielubowicz, Vice President of the Board, CD PROJEKT. “After the period of great sales during the summer quarter, we’re looking forward for the hot Holiday sales period that’s just about to start.”, adds Nielubowicz. 

In Q3 2015, CD PROJEKT RED focused mainly on post-release support of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, both in traditional and digital sales channels as well as getting ready to release the first story expansion to The Witcher 3, Hearts of Stone, which was rated highly by specialist media and fans. The release of the second expansion, Blood and Wine, is scheduled for the first half of 2016.

“We are extremely satisfied with the record-high value of positive cash flows generated by CD PROJEKT Group. The funds we earned will allow us to grow and embark on even bigger projects in the future,” concludes Nielubowicz.

The segment of global digital distribution of games, GOG.com, reported another quarter of very strong performance. Revenues from sales to external clients totalled to 21.0 million PLN in Q3 2015 (11.8 million PLN in Q3 2014), constituting an increase of 78%. The net profit of the segment of global digital distribution of games amounted to 1,7 million PLN in Q3 2015, an increase of 74% year on year.

In Q3 2015, GOG.com added more than 100 new titles to its library, thus expanding it beyond the threshold of 1,200 titles. The business highlight of Q3 2015 was the cooperation established with Bethesda Softworks, which resulted in adding to GOG.com’s catalogue cult classics like Wolfenstein 3D, three Quake games and four titles from the award winning Elder Scrolls series.
