CD Projekt proudly announces the expansion of its collaboration with The Walt Disney Company Polska. For seven years, CD Projekt has been the exclusive licensing partner for Disney in the area of games distribution. As a result of further tightening of the cooperation, CD Projekt will now become the sole distributor of Disney movies for DVA and Blu-ray formats. Starting 9th November 2009 this year, a new department at CD Projekt will start its operations – this will be a team responsible for games and home entertainment. This brand new unit in our business structure will take care of sales and marketing for both lines of products. In the process of entering a new business dimension - movie entertainment - CD Projekt will strive to utilize its broad experience gained in the gaming industry, spanning more than a dozen years. Among other activities, the company plans to popularize new formats and introduce movie publishing series. The first movie to be released by CD Projekt on Blu-ray and Disney DVD is entitled: “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”.

„TWDC Polska, WDSHE and DIS will take this opportunity to consolidate the sales of its multimedia products in the hands of a single business partner. Disney DVD and Blu-ray will be sold alongside PC and console games, which will in effect make a comprehensive, integral offer of family entertainment products,” says Katarzyna Westermark, the CEO at The Walt Disney Company (Polska). „We, here at Disney Polska, shall be able to secure a unified, cohesive marketing support for all DVD, Blu-ray and games launches as well as for our products catalogue targeted at adults and children alike,” she adds.

„A combined distribution of Disney DVD and Blu-ray with games means that the customers will receive more magic straight from Disney. We find it very symbolic that the first title to be released as a result of this new cooperation will be the movie that started it all at Disney – Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. This title will be launched on Blu-ray in HD for the very first time,” commented CeciliaTosting, Senior Vice President at Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment, EMEA. „Thanks to our classic evergreens and fabulous premieres, such as Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure or G-Force, CD Projekt will be able to offer valuable products in high quality to its Polish clients.”

„Joining our efforts, we are given an outstanding occasion to open natural channels of reaching an even greater number of Polish customers with our games,” says Thierry Braille, Vice President at Disney Interactive Studios. „Vast experience that CD Projekt can boast on the market is a full guarantee that we will cater for both our current as well as future markets with great ease.”

Michał Kiciński, a co-owner of the CD Projekt group, expressed an opinion that aligning two branches of business – computer games and DVD movies – is a great growth opportunity for the home entertainment industry in Poland: „We are delighted to have found new roads for further expansion that came with the Disney movies. We wish to derive from our experiences with computer games and use this know-how when working with the movies. Personally, I am of the opinion that joining games marketing with movie marketing will prove very beneficial to both industries.”

Among the products found in the CD Projekt’s line-up, we will find all the fabulous stories and unforgettable characters from the abundant Disney catalogue. In the forthcoming months, you can expect the launch of such premieres as: “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”, “Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure”, “G-Force” and “Up”. And that’s just the beginning! Let us bring to mind the fact that Disney’s portfolio does not cater for the kids only. The adult fans can also choose from very popular TV series and movies like: “Pirates of the Caribbean”, “National Treasure”, “LOST”, „Desperate Housewives” or „Grey’s Anatomy”.
